Jets HC Robert Saleh shares significant update on Aaron Rodgers' health

Heading into OTAs on Tuesday, New York Jets head coach Robert Saleh appeared to give quarterback Aaron Rodgers a clean bill of health.

Per Jori Epstein of Yahoo Sports, Saleh didn't confirm Rodgers has fully recovered after tearing his Achilles in Week 1 last season, but noted the 40-year-old QB has "no limitations" thus far.

"The arm talent is obviously still there," Saleh said of Rodgers' recovery, via Epstein. "It's really just reacclimating to everything."

Rodgers' ability to bounce back from his injury will help determine whether the Jets snap their 13-year playoff drought. That's one reason they've prioritized improving their O-line. According to ESPN Analytics, the unit ranked 30th in the league in pass-block win rate (50%) last season.

This offseason, New York signed former Dallas Cowboys offensive tackle Tyron Smith, an eight-time Pro Bowler, to a one-year, $6.5M deal. The Jets also drafted Penn State OT Olumuyiwa Fashanu with the 11th overall pick.

"The Jets' overhauled offensive line will play a large role in making fans' dreams a reality," CBS Sports' Doug Clawson wrote. "Then maybe we can start talking about the Jets ending their long playoff drought, or even contending for a championship."

Despite the O-line improvements, Rodgers recapturing his elite form is a big if. In his final season with Green Bay in 2022, the former MVP posted a subpar 41.3 QBR in 17 games, the third-lowest mark of his career. The Packers went 8-9 and missed the playoffs.

Still, Rodgers should be an upgrade over QB Zach Wilson, whom New York recently dealt to the Denver Broncos. Last season, former first-round pick Wilson assumed the starting role after Rodgers' injury. He went 4-7 and posted a terrible 30.6 QBR.
