Dallas Cowboys Emerging As 1 Potential Intriguing Suitor For Michael Thomas

Jerry Jones is always looking to make a move if one presents itself to add talent to the Dallas Cowboys’ roster. That is still the case even late in the NFL offseason.

After a very quiet offseason that has received a ton of criticism from the national media and fans, the Cowboys could use more talent. They are entering a make-or-break 2024 season that could change everything about the franchise.

Reports have stated that the Cowboys could move on from Dak Prescott if they don’t have the kind of season they’re expecting this year. Mike McCarthy is also firmly on the hot seat. Jones needs to give the team as much talent as possible if they’re really entering that kind of season.

One free agent wide receiver is beginning to get some buzz as a potential target for the Dallas Cowboys before the start of the season.

Dallas Cowboys Emerging As Potential Suitor For Michael Thomas

ESPN analyst Matt Bowen has linked the Cowboys as a potential suitor for Thomas. The move would make sense, as Dallas has been openly looking for more help at the wide receiver position.

“When healthy, Thomas can still uncover and work multiple levels of the field. However, the injury concerns are legit, as the 31-year-old wide receiver has played in just 20 games over the past four seasons. And while Thomas could wait until after camps start to find the best landing spot, let’s focus on Dallas as a possibility; he could make an impact there on a one-year deal.”

Bowen continued on talking about how Thomas could fit into McCarthy’s offensive system.

“In Mike McCarthy’s offense, Thomas could compete with Jalen Tolbert for the No. 3 role alongside CeeDee Lamb and Brandin Cooks. He could align as a boundary X and show his ability to work the seams out of the slot. He caught 39 passes in 2023 for 448 yards and a score.”

Clearly, the Dallas Cowboys do run an offense that could use Thomas as a major weapon underneath. Thomas would provide Prescott with a top-notch possession wide receiver to go along with the big-play ability of CeeDee Lamb. That could take the offense to another level.

All of that being said, everything would depend on whether or not Michael Thomas can stay healthy. He has battled injury issues in recent years. Perhaps a change of scenery would help him get back on the field and stay on it.

While the Dallas Cowboys do make sense as a Thomas landing spot, there are other teams around the NFL that could be interested as well. Among those teams are the Pittsburgh Steelers and Buffalo Bills.

If the Cowboys do want to add Thomas and give him a shot to revitalize his career in Dallas, they’ll need to make a move soon.
